Willard D. Perkins
Bill Perkins is married and lives in Andover, MA. He has more than 25 years of experience in engineering, energy efficiency, facilities and real estate development. He is a registered professional engineer in Massachusetts and New Hampshire and NH and a licensed construction supervisor in MA. He is a Certified Building Operator, Certified Plant Engineer and a Certified Green Builder.
He is proficient in Energy Star Portfolio Manager and other energy management tools. He is a frequent speaker to university classes, facility groups, property owners, home builders, developers and municipalities; he is a graduate of Cornell University School of Engineering.
Bill has been an executive or President for a number of corporate entities providing comprehensive energy consulting solutions for a number of commercial clients, and site design and permitting services to businesses and property owners. The energy work typically includes site visits, lighting audits, building envelope analysis with thermographic photographs, and recommendations as to a site’s suitability for renewable energy options. He has developed a wide network of officials, consultants, utility contacts, suppliers and contractors. He has worked with various solar, wind & power line companies in an effort to locate and acquire new solar & wind installations in New England on industrial buildings, greenfield, landfill & brownfields.
Bill’s companies have developed, renovated, managed or analyzed many industrial and office buildings, retail strip centers, residential subdivisions, and condominium complexes. Mr. Perkins has taken part in many joint venture design-develop-build projects, most of which have been Energy Star rated. Bill conceived, designed and developed “Greenwood Meadows” which received Energy Star Development of the Year Award in 2005.
He was formerly a senior design engineer with Dana F. Perkins, Inc. and designed countless commercial, industrial and residential site plans, sewage treatment plants, water distribution systems, etc.
Mr. Perkins has been involved in many charitable and humanitarian projects in the United States, Haiti, and Mexico. A recent mission trip to Haiti has been chronicled at www.wdperkins.wordpress.com. His charitable work has included building affordable housing and athletic buildings, playgrounds, and a skate park, rebuilding water systems; he has analyzed the integrity of structures in Haiti, proposed new construction projects, built and stocked pantries, and coordinated medical treatment for orphans.
He has worked with the Andover and Lawrence, MA Housing Authorities to assist in the development of playgrounds at local “affordable” developments. He represented Free Christian Church, Pike School, and Andover School of Montessori in Andover in their expansion projects. His construction projects have resulted in the donation of hundreds of acres of land in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Recently he coordinated community building repair efforts at ABC House of Andover. He makes weekly deliveries from Whole Foods to Daybreak Shelter in Lawrence and periodically serves breakfast at the shelter. He and his family helps with the Salvation Army red kettle program during the Christmas season.
He is a current or former officer/director/volunteer of Andover School of Montessori, Andover Community Trust, Friends of Andover Football, Andover Youth Foundation, Northeast Home Builders, and the National Association of Home Builders. He is a member of the Cornell Engineering Society & a National Director of NAHB.
